Celebrate With Me?!

As long as you and I have suffered... knowing all the b.s. that goes on around here... knowing that it's been since 2002 since I've had a freeking raise...

T O D A Y.

Today, we're doing the happy dance.
The new sec is still a pain in my.... yeah that. But she's helped make it happen. She and I both FINALLY got raises AND the check isn't going to bounce today.

I can live with that for a while.
Hold my head up again.
Maybe even feel like coming to work for the rest of the week...

Yeah. I'm going to like making $16.25 an hour.

...until it bounces next time, anyway.

Thank you thank you thank you for listening to me rant, year after year, after year after year after year...(maybe even a couple more after years) ... while I waited and hoped and struggled.

Life is good today.

...

I got a call earlier today telling me that they gave the dream job to somebody else on Friday. Ok so, I keep looking. Then I got another call for an interview elsewhere. Ok. So, I keep looking ;)

And if you haven't run across this link yet: http://www.andrewolmsted.com/ you might want to check it out. It was written by a soldier/blogger before his death in Iraq. It is certainly enough to bring this military mom to tears... Major Andrew Olmsted, who posted a blog since May 2007, was killed in Iraq on Jan. 3, 2008. Olmsted, who had been based at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, began blogging after his unit was sent to Iraq with the mission of helping train the Iraqi Army. A sniper killed Olmsted as he was trying to talk three suspected insurgents into surrendering. A sniper's bullet also cut down Capt. Thomas J. Casey. They were in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad. Olmsted was determined to make a difference in Iraq. "The sooner the Iraqi government doesn't need U.S. support to provide security for its people, the sooner we will probably be asked to leave."

Later.

Another Adventure...

I was following Dh home last night when one of those frozen-time slow-motion moments happened...

It was about 10:30. We were on the long, curvy, somewhat country road heading out to the new house. Less than a mile from home. I saw the deer about the same time it hit DH's pickup. As I reached towards my purse for my cell, I watched the deer roll out from underneath DH's truck, do a flip in the air, and bounce into the ditch. (Score! 2 points!) ...then I heard THUD as the deer ran back out of the ditch and slammed into the side of my truck before looking right at me and wobbling off into the woods. OMG it was so funny. Nobody was hurt, and it was just minor damage to both vehicles. What are the odds of us both hitting the same silly deer?

...the only thing that would have made it better would have been if the deer had dropped dead on the side of the road so I could have taken it to be processed... the freezer is empty.

Have a nice weekend!
